Teacher:  Yesterday I watched an interesting TV program about the Bargusin preserve of Syberia and I learnt a lot of new information about it. Are there any national parks on the territory of the republic?

Pupil: Yes, of course. There is the National Park Yugyd Va and the Pechora Ilych preserve.

Teacher: Why do people organize National Parks and preserves?

Pupil: We organize National Parks and Preserves to protect rare animals and plants.

Teacher: What do you think we are going to speak about today?

Pupils: We are going to speak about the protection of the environment.

   We are going to learn about National Parks and preserves…

Teacher: Look at the screen and see if your guess is right.

Pupils: I think, it is the Pechora  Ilych Gamepreserve.

   I suppose, that it is the National Park Ugyd - Va.

Teacher: Yes, that’s right. This is the National Park Ugyd – Va - one of the biggest parks on the territory of the Komi Republic. The Park attracts millions of tourists every year. Would you like to visit the National Park?

Pupil: Of course, I would. It is very interesting.

 

Teacher: Today we shall travel to the National Park and we shall learn a lot about it. What must we do during the lesson to be able to tell about the park and answer the tourist’s questions?

Pupils: We must learn the new words and expressions, and use them in speech.

   We must learn to speak about the Park, ask and answer the questions... …

Teacher: Look at the screen and match the words.

 На экране список слов на английском языке. По мере появления слов на русском языке учащиеся нажимают мышкой компьютера на выбранный вариант. В случае ошибки на экране высвечивается слово « неверно». Если задание выполнено «верно», то появляется слово «хорошо».

На экране предложения с пропусками слов с предложенными вариантами ответов. Учащиеся выбирают один из вариантов нажатием  кнопки мыши. В случае ошибки на экране высвечивается слово « неверно». Если задание выполнено «верно», то появляется слово «хорошо».

Teacher: There are many rare animals on the territory of the park. Look at the screen and match the pictures and the animals.

На экране появляются картинки животных: куница, норка, ласка, лось, песец, северный олень. Учащиеся называют слова на русском, нажимают кнопкой мыши и появляется слово на английском языке. Новые слова записываются в тетради.

The highest mountain of the Ural Mountains is situated here. The rivers Pechora, Kozhim, Podchera flow into the Barents Sea.

 

There are three zones: mountain, low-lying and plains.  Mountains, tundra and plains are typical of the northern territory of the National Park. The climate on the territory of the Park is cold with long snowy winters and short summers.

The territory of the Park is rich in unique animals and plants. There are 47 types of plants which are protected by the Red Book of the Russian Federation. On the territory of the park unique animals are found. They are hares, bears, foxes, polar foxes, weasels, wolves, north deer, ermines and others. People can visit the National Park but they cannot hunt there.

The Park Ugyd Va is situated in the west of the North Urals on the border of Europe and Asia. Its area is 18917 square kilometers. The National park was organized in 1994 under the decision of UNESKO. The purpose of the National Park is the protection of the unique animals and plants.

On its territory the highest top of the Ural Mountains is situated. The largest and the purest rivers of Europe flow into the Barents Sea. They are the Pechora, the Kozhim and the Podchera.

The territory is located in three zones: mountain, low-lying and plains.  Mountains, tundra and plains are typical of the northern territory of the National Park. Thanks to the geographical position the climate on the territory of the Park is cold with long – lasting snowy winters and short chilly summers. Winter lasts from October to April. The average temperature of the coldest month – January – reaches 18 C below zero in the South and 21 C in the North. The maximum recorded winter temperature is – 55 C. Strong winds are typical of winter. Summer periods are shorter. It begins in the middle of June and lasts for 60-75 days. The average temperature is 12-20 C above zero.

The territory of the Park is rich in unique animals and plants. There are 47 types of plants which are protected by the Red Book of the Russian Federation. Among them are flowers, trees and about 10 types of moss. On the territory of the park unique animals are found. They are martens, hares, bears, foxes, polar foxes, weasels, wolves, north deer, ermines and others.

People can visit the National Park but hunting is not allowed there.
