The project: «Cities in England and their attractions» Выполнил: ученик 9 класса МБОУ «Фатневская СОШ им. Героя Советского Союза Семена Матвеевича Сидоркова» Потапов Николай Руководитель: Крапивникова Марина Михайловна

1. Find out the million-plus cities of England and their attractions. 2. Find out what exactly these sights are famous for. Goals and objectives:

London: Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace is a gem of London's historical heritage, one of the few partially open to tourists operating royal object-the official residence of Elizabeth II, where meetings are held, receptions are held and events of national importance are discussed.

London: Big Ben Big Ben is a clock, tower, and bell that is a symbol of London and one of the world's most famous landmarks. Big Ben is known by this name all over the world as one of the three towers of the Palace of Westminster – the seat of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, located on the banks of the Thames.

London: London eye "The London Eye" is the poetic name of a grandiose ferris wheel installed on the banks of the Thames. Climbing to the height of the 45-storey building (135 meters), visitors can explore London and its surroundings at a distance of up to 40 kilometers in clear weather.

Liverpool: Pier Head The Pier Head (correctly, George's Pier Head) is a riverside location in the city centre of Liverpool, England. It is part of the Liverpool Maritime Trading City UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was listed in 2004.In addition to a collection of iconic buildings, recreational open spaces, and a number of memorials, Pier Head was (and for some traffic still is) a landing site for passenger ships going in and out of the city.

Rochester Castle in Kent Rochester Castle is located in the town of the same name in Kent. It is one of the first stone castles in England and the tallest of them. The English city of Rochester, standing on the ancient Roman road (Watling Street) from Dover to Canterbury, has been a strategically important fortress since ancient times.

Stonehenge in Salisbury The legendary and iconic Stonehenge is located not so far from London – just 130 km from the capital. The monument of ancient civilization is included in the UNESCO lists. The age of the stone dolmens, according to archaeologists, should be counted from the date of 5 thousand years BC. The origin and purpose of Stonehenge is not known for certain. There is a version that the structure is a planetary calendar, a ritual temple or a tomb.

Sherwood Forest In Nottinghamshire, there is a natural English landmark-Sherwood Forest. The forest is closely associated with the legend of Robin Hood. It is because of this legendary character that Englishmen and tourists regularly come to Sherwood Forest on excursions.

Conclusion: There are a large number of attractions in England that are known all over the world. In this work, I have collected the most striking and mysterious places and tried to briefly describe them.
