Great Britain
The official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It lies on the British Isles. The biggest island called Great Britain, the smaller one is Ireland. Besides, there are 8 hundred thousand small islands. The country is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, The North sea and the English Channel. The territory of the country is not very large, but the population is very big. It's about 59 mln people.
UK consists of 4 parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every part is Independent country and has its own flag, symbol and even language! In our presentation we are going to tell you about them. Let's begin!
England
The capital of England is London. It is one of the largest cities in the world. It has population of 7 mln people. London stands on the river Thames. The Romans founded it in about 43 A.D. They built the first bridge over the river and it was the beginning of the city of London.
What England is famous for? It has such well-known sites like Big Ben,museum «Madam Tussaud», Tower Bridge, Buckingham palace. Over 20 mln people visit England every year! Besides, do you know that England is the birthplace of football? It goes without saying, this sport is very popular here.
The symbol of England is red-white rose. The flag looks like a red cross on the white canvas.
Wales
The capital of Wales is Cardiff, the largest city of this country. Daffodil and leek – symbols of Wales. Wales's flag looks like a big red dragon on the white-green canvas.
Talking about what Wales is famous for. There are more than 600 ancient castles here! A lot of legends and stories are connected with this edge. Besides, there isn't any country in the world with such number of castles. The most popular are Carreg Cennen, Criccieth Castle, Cardiff Castle, Raglan Castle and so on.

Scotland
To begin with the capital of the country is Edinburgh. This country is very old and beautiful so it's quiet popular with tourists all over the world. One of the most main city's sites is the Royal Mile - a series of medieval streets and dead-ends.
Look at the simbol of Scotland - it's a thistle. The flag looks like a white cross on a blue canvas.
Northern Island
Northern Ireland – the smallest one country of the UK. The population of the country is not very big. We know, that English – main language of the United Kingdom, but people in NI speak Scottish and Irish too. Most of the country's population is Protestants.
The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The symbol – shamrock, the flag –red cross on the white canvas.
