 Квест – игра «Рождество в Британии и Америке»

В соответствии с ФГОС второго поколения содержание учебных предметов создает основу для формирования рефлексивного мышления у обучающихся. Это помогает раскрыть новые возможности развития познавательной, коммуникативной и эстетической деятельности на основе ценностно-смысловой ориентации личности в мире и обществе, развития самосознания и целеполагания, выстраивания индивидуальной образовательной траектории каждого ученика.    

Решить такие образовательные задачи на уроках английского языка очень трудно. Поэтому учитель проводит внеклассную работу. Внеклассная работа по английскому языку становится эффективным средством для достижения планируемых результатов обучения.  Этот вид работы помогает формировать мотивацию на саморазвитие и самообразование. Также позволяет успешно овладеть учебной деятельностью. [1c.4]

В своей практике я использую внеклассные мероприятия в виде викторин, марафонов интеллектуальных игр и квестов.  Предлагаю вашему вниманию разработку квест-игры «Рождество в Британии и Америке»

Квест –игра «Рождество в Британии и Америке»

Цель занятия: обобщение изученного материала по теме «Рождество»

Задачи: Образовательные: Формировать  умения пользоваться полученными знаниями в устной и письменной речи, актуализировать использование лексических единиц по изучаемой теме. 

Развивающие: Развивать навыки аудирования, смыслового чтения, письма, устной речи.

Воспитательные: воспитать умение работать в паре, группе, взаимодействовать с окружающими, уважать мнение других, соблюдать простейшие нормы этикета.

Формирование системы УУД: коммуникативных (владение всеми видами речевой деятельности и основами культуры устной и письменной речи, использование языка в ситуациях общения); интеллектуально-познавательных (сравнение и сопоставление, анализ и синтез, абстрагирование и обобщение, оценивание); информационных (извлечение информации из различных источников, работа с текстом); регулятивных (формулирование цели деятельности, планирование ее, самоконтроль, самооценка, самокоррекция).

Формы организации деятельности учащихся: индивидуальная, групповая, фронтальная.

Предварительная работа: Учащихся за неделю до праздника попросили создать дома свои Рождественские открытки на английском языке (с пожеланиями/шутками/Рождественской историей/стихотворением) и подготовить небольшой подарочек для друга. До урока ученики поучают разноцветные жетоны с номерами и по цвету делятся на команды. Жетоны сохраняют до конца игры.

Оборудование: карточки с заданиями; карта Великобритании и Америки; аудиозаписи рождественских песен.

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! I am glad to see you.

Today we shall find out how people celebrate the New Year and Christmas in Great Britain and the USA.

I love Christmas for many things

Trees, candles, angel wings.

 Stars in the heavens,

Snow covered hills,

 Little toy trains,

 Dolls in their frills.

 I love Christmas, ribbons of gold,

 Familiar carols, so very old.

 Dear children, this poem is devoted to Christmas. Do you remember when it is celebrated? (the 25 th of December) It is a very popular holiday of most English-speaking countries and today we are going to celebrate it by playing a Christmas game.

Task 1

So we have 2 teams. I give you a minute to think over the name of your team, but it should be connected with Christmas. (Christmas stocking, Christmas tree).
Task 2
Kids, thank you! Now look please at the word CHRISTMAS. Try to find nouns connected with this holiday that begin from each letter. But the words must be written correctly. (C-carol; H-holy; R- reindeer; I-ice; S-snowman; T – tree; M –mistletoe; A - apple ; S –snowflake).  For correct answers you get  stickers.

Task 3.  I have flags of countries. Can you name these countries?

Answer questions about countries. For correct answers you get stickers.

Task 4 Good. Do you know the difference between Christmas in Great Britain and Christmas in the USA? Now you have list of words. Tell in what country you  can use   these words

Great Britain: 1.Happy Christmas (название праздника); 2. Chrimbo (Санта Клаус); 3. Snowball (зимний английский напиток – коктейль из голландского яичного ликера Advokaat, лимонада и сока лайма); 4.Christmas pudding (традиционное блюдо); 5. Pantomime (развлечение на праздник).

The USA: 1. Merry Christmas (название праздника);  2.Christmas      eggnog ( яичный напиток eggnog (гоголь-моголь с добавлением пряностей и виски, рома, бренди).  3. Boxing day ( день подарков) 4.  Garlands and light decorations (развлечение на праздник) 5. Baked ham or roast beef.(запечённый окорок или ростбиф (традиционное блюдо)

Now you have texts. Read it and answer the question. What are common and different in celebrating Christmas in Great Britain and the USA?

 Text 1. Christmas Day is the holiday in Great Britain. It is a family holiday. Traditionally all friends give each other presents. People decorate their houses in the traditional way. They are always decorated with light and angels. Little packets with nuts and candies are hung on the tree. On the Eve of the Christmas children hang their stockings, so that Santa Claus could put presents into them. Carol singing is a traditional part of Christmas. In the evening children come to the door of a house and sing for a person who lives in this house.

 Text 2. The tradition to celebrate Christmas in the United States dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Already in 1840s people were putting up Christmas trees in their houses and in 1860s a magic red-costumed man with white beard appeared. It was Santa Claus. The tradition of Christmas card sending appeared in 1842. It denotes the beginning of New Year and new life. The day after Christmas is known as the Boxing Day. It’s when everybody opens the presents, which are found under the Christmas tree. Some Americans on the night of Christmas attend the mass at church. The traditional dish for dinner is a roast turkey with vegetables, rosemary and cranberry sauce. Before going to bed people make wishes for the coming year.

Task 5.  You have read some information. Try to tell us about Christmas in Great Britain and the USA, using texts and these words.

You told me about Rudolph. But have you ever heard a song about him? You are going to listen to the song. Look at the words, some of them are missing. Try to complete the song using words below.

First, you work individually, then I’ll give you some minutes to compare your answers and make a final variant in your team.

And if you ever saw it.

 You would even say it glows.

 All of the other reindeer

 Used to laugh and call him ------------,

They never let poor Rudolph

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

 What about making a Christmas choir and singing this nice song? (ученики все вместе поют песню)

 Task 7.I know that many of you make nice poems. You will be Christmas poets. You’ll be given rhyming words. Try to use them and make your poem.

 Подведение итогов.Thank you teams! You were active, friendly and attentive. It is interesting to know our results.  It’s high time to count your stickers. Well, you have equal number and certainly our friendship wins!! I hope you liked our Christmas game.
