May 9 - Great Victory Day May 9 is a sacred date for every Russian citizen. On this day, we celebrate the victory of the Soviet people over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). This war was the most tragic and heroic period in the history of our country. Millions of people gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland.

Zoya Anatolyevna Kosmodemyanskaya Zoya Anatolyevna Kosmodemyanskaya (Tanya) (09.13.1923 – 11.29.1941)-military intelligence officer, saboteur, Hero of the Soviet Union.

Heroic feat In November 1941, Zoya, as part of a sabotage group, was thrown behind enemy lines. Her task was to destroy the houses where German soldiers were stationed in the village of Petrishchevo in the Moscow region. While completing the task, Zoya was captured by the fascists. Despite the brutal torture, she did not betray her comrades and did not betray her Homeland.

On November 29, 1941, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was executed by the Nazis. Her courage and resilience in the face of death shocked the world.
