The water type of fire extinguishers are used for class A fires. Class A fires are cloth, paper or wood. One important to know you should not use them for putting out flammable liquids and electrical equipment.

Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are used for putting out electrical and chemical fires, flammable liquids. These extinguishers work by displacing the oxygen in the fire with the non-flammable carbon dioxide.

Dry Chemical fire extinguishers are used for putting out class A,B,C,D and metal fires. The work by spreading a thin layer of dust on the fires separating the fire from the oxygen.
