The geographical position. Donskoy is located in the south - eastern part of the Tula region. It borders Novomoskovsk district - in the north, Kimovsky - in the east and Uzlovsky - in the west and south. Donskoy is located in the upper reaches of the great Russian river Don, which gives the town its name.

Climate. . Donskoy is in the band with a moderate - continental climate with a predominance of the northern and north – eastern winds.

Landscapes. Bobrik – Mountain is located where the Bobric- river flows into the Don. Flora and fauna. The forests has got an artificial origin here. They were planted in the second half of the 19th century.

Land and people. There are a lot of workers' settlements: Zadonye, Komsomol, Novougolny, Podlesny, Rudnev, Mining, and the City of North – Zadonsk around of Donskoy.

The coat of arms of Donskoy. The Council Decision of 30 May 2002 approved the Regulations on the coat of arms of the Don, which is the official symbol of the city. Mining Village . Mining Village (Shakhtyorskii) is one of the best settlement of Donskoy. It is repeatedly recognized as a winner of competitions for improvement among the settlements of the Tula region.

The settlement was founded 50 years ago on the basis of the mine № 42. All its inhabitants, and is 3.9 thousand people, mostly provided with housing and jobs. The glory of the settlement is created by its people. They formed its shape with their work and talent.
