Шишков Вячеслав Яковлевич 21 сентября 1873 – 6 марта 1945 гг.
Study and service He studied at a private pension, then at the Bezhetsk city 6-grade school (1882–1888), in 1891 he graduated from the Vyshnevolotsk school of conductors of communications. After a short practice in the Novgorod and Vologda provinces in 1894, he arrived at work in Tomsk to serve in the area of waterways. Participated in geodetic expeditions, since 1903, was the leader of many of them. He surveyed the Ob, Yenisei, Chulym, Charysh, Lena, Vitim and other Siberian rivers. Of particular importance, both in engineering and creative terms, were works on the study of biia and the future route of the Chuisk road. After the October Revolution, which he met with vigilance, he was sent to “wanderings” in Russia (Luga district, Smolensk, Kostroma, Crimea). He visited the city of Ostashkov, where he began work on the "Sullen River" (1918-1932).
Литературная деятельность Active literary activity Shishkov began in 1913 (stories "Prayed", "fast Court", "Krahl"), moved to Petrograd in 1915, became close to Maxim Gorky. In 1916, with the assistance of Gorky published the first collection of stories "Siberian tale". After moving to St. Petersburg, Siberia and especially Altai remain one of the main themes of his work. The pinnacle of Siberian prose Shishkov became novels "Gang" (1923, the Civil war) and "Grim river" (2 volumes, 1933 about life in Siberia at the turn of XIX — XX centuries). In 1928-1930 the writer works on the novel "Wanderers" about street children. Since 1927 Shishkov lived in Children's (Tsarskoye Selo). The last 7 years of his life he worked on the historical epic "Yemelyan Pugachev" (3 volumes). In 1941 Shishkov is in besieged Leningrad (until 1 April 1942), writes articles for front-line Newspapers, publishes the first volume "...Pugachev", remaining unfinished.
Death I Shishkov died on March 6, 1945. He was buried in Moscow at Novodevichy cemetery
