Foreign Language in My Life

Many people since school days asked themselves the question: Why do I need English at all? My Russia is enough for me. I admit I also had such thoughts when I was in school, too. And one event gave me an accurate and definitive answer to this question.  I want to tell you about it.

In grade 7, I had the opportunity to go to Peshelan to Peshelan gypsum plant. There we went down at a depth of 70meters under the ground. It was getting colder every minute. That is where I met foreigners. Then I really wanted to talk to them, but I did not have enough knowledge of English. Since that time I began to pay more attention to study it.

 In the 9th grade I was in Moscow. There I tried to talk to the Chinese. I think I am getting the hang of this. Almost all the phrases I could understand. From this conversation, I realized that the Chinese are very talkative and friendly people.

 The next opportunity to talk to foreigners was in Kazan. This summer I have visited the World Cup – World Skills Competition 2019in Kazan. It brought together young professionals from all over the world. We communicated with each other. There I tried to talk to a woman. She was from France. She spoke slowly so I could understand. She told me how they had to get here. I really enjoyed talking to her.

 The first minutes are very unusual to talk to foreigners. It seems that this is an English teacher, who also knows Russian, but just wants to test your knowledge. And I could not believe that this man does not know Russian language. 

 At each meeting with foreigners, I knew that my interest in them is special. When you talk with them, it seems that it is a person from another planet. They have other language, other legislation, different orders, and so on.

  I consider, that foreign languages are absolutely necessary for people nowadays, because of our growing international contacts with foreign countries.

 English is one of the most popular languages and it is spoken all over the world.

 Thus, I believe that learning English is necessary for me. At the moment, one of my main goals is to learn English language, especially Spoken English. 

If we are planning to travel to countries where the language we can speak is spoken, we can communicate with people there and understand what they are saying to us.

 I understand that English teaches me to think, to speak, it helps me to find friends, but learning English is very difficult for me and takes me so much time. 

Nowadays English has become the world's most important language in politics, science, trade and cultural relations

English language is a wonderful language. It is the language of the great literature.

 It is the language of William Shakespeare, Jonathan Swift, Walter Scott, Charles Dickens. They are my favorite writers.

Also it is the language of computer technology, the Internet. Not long ago computers and internet have appeared. When I work in the internet I get much information in English. When I want to set the definite program I meet with many sets in English. If I do not know English I cannot understand the material.
Today, English language is used almost everywhere. It is the language of banking and industry, computers and trade, technology and science.

I think that to know English is necessary for every educated man and good specialist. English is very important to find a good job.

 The great German poet Goethe once said, «He, who knows no foreign language, doesn't know his own one». That is why in order to understand oneself and environment one has to learn foreign languages.
