“Has education lost its value?”

Imagine you're 18, full of dreams, but stuck choosing: chase a university degree that might never pay off, or dive straight into the real world and build your empire? Good afternoon! I'm Alexandr Chebykin from the ninth grade, school 3, and today I'll tackle: "Has education lost its value?"

First of all, I want to say that this topic is important today, because there are fewer and fewer people with university degree. Although you might think this is a problem, I want to say that it’s not really the case. Also, I’m not even talking about school education. It’s mandatory.

Nowadays, more and more young people don’t want to go to universities. The reason of that is “EGE”. This abbreviation stands for “Unified State Exam”. This exam is quite difficult, so lots of student leave school after the ninth grade, to go to technical school. This isn’t a big deal, but a degree isn’t as important for building a good career. More often, employers only check your actual skills and experience. In addition, studying at university takes away your best years. You also don’t need a degree to start your own business. This means that you can only start your career at the age of 22, while on the other hand, you can it at the age of 18. That doesn’t mean that higher education is useless. Some employers require it as the must-have for your application for a job. But if you're not that smart, you'll have to pay for studying at university.

But in my opinion, a degree is very important, especially for boys, because it allows you not to go to the army, which is mandatory in other cases. I accept that education is losing its value and I think that this isn’t a good trend.
If there are less people with higher education, there will be less qualified employees, and that's not a good thing.

So, while skills and early starts matter, ditching higher education spells trouble—we need more qualified minds for tomorrow's challenges! Education hasn't lost its value; it's our ticket to a smarter future. Thank you!
