Ladies and Gentlemen! We are glad to see you in New York. Now I’ll be your guide.

New York City –

is the financial capital of the USA.

is the headquarters of the United Nations.

is the center of American cultural life.

is the national leader in fashion and entertainment.

Look at the screen and you will see the city that never stops and never sleeps. (Video about NYC)

New York is a very famous city. Everyone knows such places as Broadway, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. New York is the biggest and most important city of the USA.

I have a sore throat. Would you help me?

But you know a lot about the «concrete» city too. I offer to share your knowledge with each other. Describe all the sights you will see and fix the notes about them on the cards.

The first European explorer who saw Manhattan Island was Giovanni da Verrazano, an Italian merchant. It was April, 1524.Today a bridge which carries his name, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, is one of the city's impressive sights. It is the longest suspension bridge in the world.

When people say "New York City" they usually mean Manhattan. The Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, the United Nations building, Central park, Times Square, Broadway, Harlem, Chinatown, the most famous streets and avenues - all these are to be found in Manhattan.

Manhattan is crossed from north to south by avenues and from east to west by streets. Each avenue has either a name or a number. The streets are numbered from one to over a hundred.

The Empire State Building is no longer the World's tallest building, but it is certainly one of the world's best loved skyscrapers. King Kong, a giant movie monster, climbed up this building.

Twin towers of the World Trade Center were the highest skyscrapers in New York. But they were destroyed by the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Central park divides the city into two parts. It is the most popular rest place in the city.

People who come to New York by sea are greeted by the Statue of Liberty. It has become the symbol of the city. It symbolizes a welcome to a land of freedom. The statue was France's gift to America, presented to the USA in 1886.There is a museum in the base of the statue devoted to the history of immigration to the USA.

Do you know, that the nickname “The Big Apple” originated from jazz musicians. The most talented jazz musicians were called “the big apples” and they gathered every year to play the best music just in New York.

Noise is always loud
There are sirens all around
And the streets are …………….
If I could make it here
I could make it anywhere
That's what they say
Seeing my face in lights
Or my name in marquees found down …………..

Even if it ain't all it seems
I got a …………………… of dreams
Baby, I'm from
Chorus
New York, …………….. jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will ……………….. you
Hear it for New York, New York, New York

Thanks for flying ВelAvia! We hope to see you again.
