Kazimir Malevich. “Black Square”

The painting "Black Square" by Malevich is a work that evokes various emotions in the viewer and makes you think about its deep meaning. First of all, it is worth noting the name of the author of this work — Kazimir Malevich, a well-known art critic and representative of suprematism, an artistic trend based on the use of the simplest geometric shapes.

The history of the creation of the painting "Black Square" is also important for understanding its context. This work was created in 1915 and became a symbol of a new look at art at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the center of Malevich's painting, we see a simple black square placed on a white background. It seems that this is just a combination of two colors and shapes, but upon closer examination, you can see that there is a deep philosophical meaning hidden in this work.

Small details of the "Black Square" painting are usually considered to the right and left of the central element. Although they seem insignificant, every element and detail is important to create an overall impression of the painting.

Color plays a special role in this work of art. The black color symbolizes denial, nothingness, absolute absence. The white background on which the square is located gives the picture contrast and emphasizes the importance of black color. Color affects our perception of the painting and evokes various emotions in the viewer.

Thus, the painting "Black Square" by Malevich is not just an image of a black square, it is a work that makes us think about the world of art, metaphysical issues and deep meanings.

interesting facts

1) This is not a square – and it is not a black "Black square" by Kazimir Malevich, in fact, it is not a square at all: none of its sides is parallel to either the opposite or the frame of the painting. Technically, it's just a quadrilateral.

And he's not black. Malevich used a special solution of paints, in which there was not a single black one, so the name of the painting does not quite correspond to reality.

2) Malevich also painted paintings known as The Red Square and the White Square. The Red Square, called The Picturesque Realism of a Peasant Woman in Two Dimensions, was painted by Malevich in 1915 for the same exhibition at which the Black Square was first presented. The "white Square", called "White on White", was created in 1918. It is painted in two close shades of white. The background of the painting is painted in a slightly warm shade, with an admixture of ochre. The square is painted in a cold bluish shade. The artist himself wrote: "The supremacist three squares are the establishment of certain worldviews and peace–building... black as a sign of economy, red as a signal for revolution and white as pure action."
