The goal is

to write a letter about Russia.

The objectives are

1) to choose the information to write in the letter

2) to remember the words we learnt in the unit

3) to remember how to write letters in English

4) to present it to the class

5) to answer the classmates’ questions

The topicality

Russia is a big and powerful country. Everybody should go and visit it. It is good when other people will love it too.

Hello. How are you? Thank you for your last letter.

You asked me about my country in your letter. I live in Russia. Come to Russia, please!

In Russia we speak the Russian language. Moscow is the capital of our country. Russia is a very wonderful and beautiful country. It is the biggest country in the world. You can visit the north of Russia, the south of Russia, Far East and Siberia.

There are many cities there. You can visit old and modern towns and cities. You can see the Bolshoi Theatre, the Pushkin Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery.

About 168 million people live in Russia. Russia is rich in forests, rivers, lakes and mountains. Many animals live in Russia: wolves, hares, squirrels, elks, hedgehogs, reindeer, deer. Many plants grow in Russia. Russian people grow potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, cabbages, beets, flowers, apples in their gardens

Russian winters are cold and summers are hot. Springs and autumns are warm. In winter you can ski and skate. In summer you can swim, ride a bike or a horse and do skateboarding.

Many great poets and writers lived in Russia: Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy.

В заключение нам хотелось бы отметить, что цели и задачи проекта были достигнуты. Мы смогли написать письмо условному другу по переписке Джону о своей стране. Считаем, что прочитав наше письмо, он захочет посетить нашу страну.

Мы выступили перед классом с нашим проектом и ответили на вопросы, которые задали нам наши одноклассники о нашей стране.

Работая над проектом, мы повторили слова по теме «Россия», вспомнили, как пишется письмо, как правильно строятся предложения на английском языке и повторили страноведческий материал.
