Внеклассное мероприятие по теме: Christmas meal

Цель: познакомить с историей традиционных рождественских блюд посредством выступления учащихся.

Задачи мероприятия:

Образовательные:

активизировать навыки говорения;

активизировать навыки аудирования;

активизировать употребление ранее изученной лексики в речи учащихся

Развивающие:

развивать навык фонематического слуха;

развивать внимание, мышление, память.

Развить языковые, интеллектуальные, творческие способности учащихся.

Развить речевую культуру школьников и культуру общения;

Развитие интереса к изучению английского языка и познавательной деятельности;

Развитие творческой активности, нравственных качеств- доброжелательности, психических процессов: памяти, внимания, воображения и положительных эмоций.

Воспитательные:

воспитывать у учащихся интерес к изучению иностранного языка.

воспитывать уважительное отношение друг к другу.

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, презентация, костюмы героев урока, декорации улиц Лондона.

Ход мероприятия.

Вечер. Одна из улиц Лондона. Вокруг рождественская суета. Две девушки Mary и Ann спешат домой с купленными подарками на Рождество. Репортер Mike Robinson, пишет статью о Рождестве в Лондоне. У него остается всего несколько открытых вопросов. Один из них – история рождественских блюд. Собрав необходимую информацию, репортер решается выяснить, что знают британцы об истории рождественских блюд.

Reporter: Excuse me. My name is Mike Robinson. I am a reporter of local newspaper. I am going to write a report about Christmas meal. Would you be so kind to answer some questions of mine. (Слайд 1,2)

Mary: Yes, of course.

Ann: With great pleasure.

R: Everybody knows that the traditional meal at Christmas is turkey. Do you know where this traditional came from? (Слайд 3)

M: Oh, this traditional has deep roots. In Middles Ages English people cooked either peacock or a pig. In the 18th century French people brought turkeys to England and this bird became the main dish at Christmas.(Слайд 4)

A: By the way in Victorian England the main course of the traditional Christmas dinner was the roast goose, not the turkey. (Слайд 5, 6 )

M: More than that, the great English writer Ch. Dickens described the traditional Christmas dinner in his well-know story “Christmas Carol”. The poor could afford very few things at Christmas. The rich had a lot of tasty things. (Слайд 7,8)

R: So much information. I know that turkey is not the only dish you have at Christmas pudding is prepared some weeks before Christmas, isn’t it? (Слайд 9)

A: Yes, you are right. Christmas pudding is a luxury afforded only once a year. It is the rich combination of suet, raisins, currant, spices, eggs and brandy.

R: What kinds of pudding do English people cook nowadays? (Слайд 10)

M: There are different kind of pudding. The traditional year-round British pudding is made of prunes.

A: Nowadays, most recipes use raisins instead of prunes. Sometimes we put dried fruit and some alcohol.

R: Last year I drank “snowball coctail”. It tasted exotic. Do the English always have it on Christmas Day? (Слайд 11)

M: Yes, of course. It's a winter drink. It is named due to its snow-like appearance. Some prefer advocoat and lemonade as the main ingredients, whilst other prefer the mix of gin, cream, anise-plavoured liqueur.

R: What are you going to cook at Christmas this year?

A: We are going to cook meat pudding: it will contain chopped meat, hard-boiled eggs and ginger. (Слайд 12)

R: Do the Royal family celebrate Christmas in the same way as you do?

A: Like all families in Britain, the Royal family also celebrate Christmas. The members of the Royal family follow the traditions and get together. There is a lot of food, but pudding and turkey are the main meal.(Слайд 13)

M: In modern British society Christmas meal may be different, but British people follow their traditions because we are a well-known traditions – preserving nation. (Слайд 14)

R: Thank you very much.

M: You are welcome.
