Цель: Познакомиться с праздниками, традициями и обычаями страны изучаемого языка. Задачи: 1. Исследовать особенности празднования некоторых английских праздников и сравнить их с аналогичными праздниками в России. 2. Перевести полученные результаты на английский язык. 3 Готовить себя к общению с носителями другой культуры. 4. Представить в виде презентации.

There are a lot of holidays in Great Britain: Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Easter and many more. English people celebrate the Christmas Day on December 25. People try to be with their families on that day. They make or buy Christmas cards and send them to their friends, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. They decorate the Christmas tree with colored lights and toys. One of the most important Christmas traditions is giving presents. Family members wrap up their gifts and leave at the bottom of the Christmas tree to be found on Christmas morning. People say that at night Father Christmas puts presents into the stockings, which children usually hang on their beds. Halloween means «holy evening» and takes place on October 31. This holiday is particularly connected with witches and ghosts. Usually people or children dress up in strange costumes and pretend they are witches. They cut horrible faces in pumpkins, potatoes and put a candle inside, play different funny games. On December 31 people usually visit their friends. There is a lot of dancing and eating. In Scotland people bring a piece of coal for good luck in the New Year. At Easter children eat chocolate Easter eggs. Sometimes parents hide them in the house or in the garden and the children look for them. There are also some public holidays in Great Britain: Mother's Day, Father's Day and St. Valentine's Day. People celebrate St. Valentines Day on February 14. They buy or make Valentines cards and send them to people they love. They should not write their names on the cards. Шотландцы приносят кусок угля, что означает удачу в Новом году. На Пасху дети едят шоколадные пасхальные яйца. Иногда родители прячут их в саду или в доме, и дети ищут их. В Великобритании празднуют и другие даты: Мамин день, Папин день, День Св. Валентина и др. День Св. Валентина празднуют 14 февраля. Люди делают или покупают открытки и посылают тем, кого любят. Paul: I like Easter. I like this holiday because it is in spring. Every thing is green in the countryside. It is really beautiful. Mum cooks traditional food. I help her to colour eggs.
