Kamozin Pavel Mikhailovich
Kamozin Pavel Mikhai-lovich is a fighter pilot. He was born in a workers’ family on July 3, 1917 in Bezhitsa (now a region of the city of Bryansk).
In 1931 he finished the 6th form at school and entered the school of factory apprenticeship.
Then he worked as a locksmith at "the Krasny Profintern plant" (now the "Bryansk Machine—Building Plant").
In 1934 he began studying at the Bezhitsky Aero Club. He joined the Red Army in 1937. In 1938 he finished the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School of Pilots and worked as an instructor pilot.
Junior Lieutenant P. M. Kamozin made his first combat mission in the Great Patriotic War on June 23, 1941 on an «I-16» fighter. He was injured in the foot. After the hospital, he worked at the headquarters of the 44th Fighter Division.
In total, during the Great Patriotic War, Pavel Mikhailovich Kamozin made 186 flights, conducted 90 air battles and personally shot down 35 enemy aircrafts. P. M. Kamozin has 34 personal and 4 group victories on his combat account.
P. M. Kamozin is a twice Hero of the Soviet Union, awarded two Gold Star medals, two Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, and the Order of the Patriotic War of the first rank.
After the Great Patriotic war P. M. Kamozin lived and worked in public aviation in his native city of Bryansk. On November 24, 1983 he died and was buried in Bryansk.There is a monument to Pavel Kamozin in the city.
