Christmas Party

Цели праздника:

Обобщить лексический материал по теме «Праздники» («Рождество», «Новый год»).

Расширить кругозор учащихся по страноведческому материалу.

Развивать навыки групповой деятельности, обучать культуре общения.

Развивать творческие способности учащихся через игровую деятельность.

Развивать интерес к изучению английского языка, к культуре, традициям и обычаям английского народа.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, запись песен, видеофильм «Christmas in Great Britain», искусственная елка, гирлянда, рождественские атрибуты.

Ход мероприятия

Teacher: Good afternoon, dear boys and girls, good afternoon, our guests! I am happy to see you in this beautiful room. Today we are having Christmas party. Christmas is a wonderful holiday; it is celebrated on the 25th of December. I greet you: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I wish you to be happy and healthy? Christmas is a holiday loved by children and adults. It is a holiday when everything is decorated with lights and toys, we see Christmas trees everywhere. People buy presents and have parties. And our room is decorated too and there is a Christmas tree too. We are going to celebrate this holiday now. You will listen to interesting things about Christmas, sing songs, recite poems and play.

Teacher: Children! Who comes to you on New Year’s Eve?

Children: Father Frost and Snow Maiden.

Teacher: And who comes to the children in Great Britain?

That’s right, Santa Claus.

He brings presents and puts them into Children’s red stockings near their beds. He also puts some presents near the Christmas tree.

My helper (presenter) will tell you about Christmas traditions in Great Britain.

Ведущий: Рождество- это праздник, посвященный рождению Иисуса Христа. День накануне Рождества называется Сочельником или по-английски Christmas Eve, а ночь Святой. В такую ночь в Вифлееме в Палестине родился Иисус Христос. Его родителей звали Мария и Иосиф.

В канун Рождества в Великобритании проводятся праздники, представления, сценки из библейской жизни. Поются Рождественские гимны или песни, по-английски они называются Carols. Сейчас вы услышите одну из них (Звучит рождественская песня «Christmas holiday»)

Teacher: The English people begin to prepare to Christmas beforehand. They decorate their houses, put up a Christmas tree. They send cards, buy presents and cook special food.

Now you can watch a video and see how the English prepare and celebrate Christmas.

Teacher: I think you like the video, don’t you?

Now we begin a competition. The members of the jury (3 persons) may take their seats. (They are introduced)

Now teams are invited to introduce themselves:

The name of the team

The emblem

The motto

The poem (about winter, holiday)

Teacher: And now to decide what team will start the captains count up to 7.

Contest 1: «A letter to Santa Claus»

Teacher: You have to finish a letter, translate the Russian words into English and write them in the plural form. You have 5 minutes for your work. Don’t change figures.

(Участникам раздаются бланки писем. Учитываются скорость и грамотность. Письма отдают жюри для оценивания.)

Образец письма:

Dear Santa Claus,

My name is Max. I am 10. I live in M. I have many friends. We like to play together. Please, bring us some presents:

(Жюри объявляет результаты конкурса)

Ведущий: В Великобритании есть традиция написания писем Санта Клаусу. Обычно дети пишут письма, указывая свои просьбы. Но вместо того, чтобы бросать их в почтовый ящик, они бросают их в камин. Тяга воздуха поднимает дымок от писем вверх по трубе и Father Christmas, читая таким образом письма, исполняет детские желания.

Contest 2: «Circle the odd words out»

The teams are given a card with the words. They have to circle the words which are not connected with the theme of our party. The teams are given 3 minutes for their work.

Card 1: a holiday, a fireplace, snow, flowers, Jingle Bells, books, a card, a Christmas tree, autumn, pudding.

Card 2: Father Frost, winter, a ruler, snowflakes, decorations, presents, a stocking, a fox, a candle, a desk.

Contest 3: «Guess riddles»

Teacher: I say a riddle. In one minute you have to answer. Each riddle - one ball. Each team guesses 5 riddles.

(Если команда не может ответить, ход переходит другой команде)

What is white and made of snow? ( a snowmen)

A little old man with 12 children:

Some are short, some are long, some are cold, some are hot. (a year)

It is big or small. It can fly and sing. (a bird)

It has 4 legs. You can sit on it. (a chair)

It is big. You can sleep on it. (a bed or a sofa)

What do Englishmen eat for lunch on Christmas Day? (turkey)

In what month do we celebrate Christmas? (December)

Whose birthday do we celebrate on Christmas day? (Christ)

What do we usually give each other on Christmas? (presents)

It is green and brown. People put toys on it and presents under it and open them on Christmas day. (Christmas tree)

The second team

What usually rings in the Church on Christmas Day? (bells)

What do Englishmen usually send to the friends before Christmas? (cards)

Where does Santa Claus usually put presents? (stocking, under Christmas Tree)

What do we usually put on the top of the Christmas tree? (a star)

He is an old man. But children like him because. He always brings a lot of presents in his bag on Christmas Day. (Santa Claus, Father Frost)

Teacher: And now we’ll listen to the most popular Christmas and New Year song «Jingle bells» and sing it.

Contest 4 «Mime Game»

К доске выходят по одному участнику из каждой команды. Участники по очереди показывают слова на карточках, используя мимику и жесты.
