Тест с заменой слов составлен на основе существующего в сборнике тестов «Английский язык. 9 класс: контрольные задания: пособие для учащихся общеобразовательных учреждений»/ [Ю. Е. Ваулина, Д. Дули, О. Е. Подоляко, В. Эванс]. - 3-е изд. - М.: Express Publishing: Просвещение, 2012. - 71 с. Сделано это, чтобы избежать списывания обучающимися ответов на тест из ГДЗ. Чтобы избежать несоответствия составленного учителем теста с проверяемыми УУД данного УМК, трактовки и формат заданий, большей частью, повторяются с готовым тестом, а также аудируемый материал и текст для чтения взяты из контрольных заданий [2].
Тест состоит из 8 заданий, максимальный балл за которые 52 (по количеству ответов). Рассчитан на 1 урок. В нём присутствуют задания всех типов:
множественного выбора: № 4, 5, 6, 8;
на восстановление соответствия: № 7A;
на восстановление последовательности: № 7В;
открытого типа: № 2, 3;
альтернативных ответов: № 1.

Испытуемый выполняет тест, фиксируя только ответ на листе или в тетради для контрольных работ, в соответствии с задачами заданий:
1. Прослушать диалог* и отметить верны (А) или неверны (В) утверждения.
2. Поставить глаголы в скобках в необходимую пассивную форму.
3. Переписать предложения в каузативной форме.
4. Расставить данные вопросительные слова+ever.
5. Заполнить пропуски необходимыми возвратными или усилительными местоимениями.
6. Выбрать подходящее слово.
7А. Соотнести реплику с реакцией на неё. В задании есть одна лишняя реплика.
7В. Расставить полученные реплики в правильном порядке, чтобы получился разговор.
