I have a dream… Famous people who have succeeded through innumerable obstacles

Who told me it wouldn't work? If I want it, it will come true! The people we want to tell you about could never have imagined that they would be an example to someone else. Who knows, perhaps one day we will add your name to that list. All you have to do is start taking action today.

Howard Schultz Howard Schultz grew up in a poor family in a poor quarter of Brooklyn. The difficult financial situation of his parents motivated the boy to go to work at the age of twelve. Howard took on any task: selling newspapers, working as a waiter, stretching skins in a fur salon. Perseverance, self-belief and hard work eventually helped him make a career at Xerox. However, the young man gave up a good job for a dream to open his own small café. He now owns 16,000 coffee shops around the world we know and love as Starbucks.

Helen Adams Keller The story of Helen Adams Keller is an amazing one. Helen was born a perfectly healthy child, but at the age of 1.5 she lost her hearing and eyesight due to illness. Lost contact with the outside world, she became more and more out of control with each passing year, and by the age of 7 she was completely wild. Her parents were already thinking of placing her in an orphanage when Nanny Anne Sullivan came into their lives and made a huge contribution to Helen's development. By drawing letters on the girl's hand, she taught her to read. By the age of 18, Helen was fluent in German, French, Greek and Latin. Keller later became the first blind and deaf person to receive a higher education. She wrote 7 books and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the two highest civilian honors in the United States.

Ingvar Kamprad Today we know Ingvar Kamprad as one of the richest men in the world and the founder of Ikea. But this was not always the rule. Ingvar was born into a simple family in a Swedish village. He showed his commercial skills early on, selling matches to neighbors as a child, then moving on to Christmas tree decorations and fish. Even before he came of age, the boy set up an Ikea, investing all his savings and adding to them the money he received from his father for his good studies. He overcame all the obstacles and transformed the small company into a furniture empire whose shops can be found all over the world. A congenital dyslexia has also contributed to his success: Ingvar has difficulty reading and memorising numbers. That's why every product in the Ikea catalogue not only has a number, but also a name.

Nick Vujicic Nick Vujicic has no arms and legs - it's a birth defect. At the age of 8, the boy tried to kill himself - Nick was convinced nothing good awaited him until, at the age of 19, he gave a speech to an audience. From then on, the boy's life began to change. He is now a famous motivational speaker, author of several books that help people believe in themselves and not give up. Nick travels around the world a lot, is married and has two sons.

Sylvester Stallone Childhood in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in New York, a special school for troubled teenagers, and on top of that, a birth trauma and paralysed muscles in the cheek, tongue and lips - it seemed that Sylvester's dream of becoming an actor was not going to come true. Endless trying out and filming in the crowds did not bring results. Because of the constant poverty of his wife left Stallone. Finding himself in a dead end, he came up with a script about Rocky the boxer, which attracted the interest of producers. However, Stallone was only willing to play the lead role himself. He received rejection after rejection until he finally prevailed, only to wake up famous the morning after the premiere.

Yuri Nikulin Yuri Nikulin went to the front when he was 18. Two wars brought wounds, a contusion, as well as medals "For the Defence of Leningrad" and "For Valour". Upon his return, the future People's Artist of the USSR decided to enter a theatre school. "You are not good for cinema" - that was the verdict of the admission commission. VGIK, Schepkin College, GITIS, the Studio Chamber Theater, Mossovet Theater - Nikulin received refusal after refusal, but did not give up, and the award found its hero. Today, we are happy with more than thirty films with his participation.

Jim Carrey He is now one of the top comedians on the planet, who can ask for another zero added to his fee and is unlikely to be refused. However, Jim Carrey's childhood was under very difficult circumstances. His father was a security guard in a factory, and his mother could not work at all due to a rare form of neurosis, when a person thinks of all imaginable and unimaginable diseases. So from an early age, Jim, along with his brother and sisters, washed toilets in the same factory where his father worked. Things heated up when the family was forced out of their home for non-payment, and then Kerry and his relatives lived for a while in an old van. But it was Jim's sense of humour that helped him cope and make his way in the world, because when things are so sad around you, only a good joke can save you. So by developing his talent he was able to get on with his life and get out of poverty.

Stephen King We all know about the success of this master of horror. Few of us know the true story of his success, which now inspires many new writers to create their own masterpieces. King's first bestseller, Carrie, was rejected 30 times before the book was published. In fact, out of desperation he threw the manuscript in the bin. He came from a poor family and worked as an English teacher, selling short stories for magazines to supplement his income. To this day he has more than 50 novels, which have sold more than 350 million copies.
