T. Good morning, children! How are you?
P 1-12. Nice! We are glad to see you!
T. Well, sit down! I think you are well, because you have done morning exercises today.
Do you often or always do morning exercises or gymnastics?
P. 1-3 I do it every day except holidays.
I do it every day except Sundays.
I do it every day when I go to school.
T. how much time do you spend on your morning exercises?
P 1. I spend twenty minutes in the morning.
P 2. I spend half an hour before going to bed.
P 3. It depends on when I get up.
T. But do you do it? I am very glad to hear it. Now answer some my questions:
- Do you go to any sport club? Does your brother (sister, friend) go in for any sports?
P 4-7: I go in for football (volleyball, kudo, athletics…)
T. What sport clubs are there in our village?
P 1. In our village there is a sports school and in the other schools there are sport clubs such as football, volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling, kudo, boxing, athletics and others.
T. What kind of sports do you know?
P 2. Except the sports the first pupil said I can call handball, basketball, rugby, karate, judo, powerlifting and others.
P 5. Winter and summer sports or indoor and outdoor sports.
T. Call us the winter sports.
P 6. Ice-hockey, figure skating, skiing, biathlon, skating, bob sleighing, trampling jumps and some others.
T. Call us summer sports.

T. Tell me, please, why do people practice physical culture and sports?
P 8. I think every body knows people practice sports to be stronger and healthy.

T. Nice, but why do we use the word athletics in plural?
P 4. Because it is not a sport, it is a group of sports dividing in three large parts: running, jumping and throwing.
T. Good knowledge! All the sports are very popular in all over the world, but do you know where do they appear? What are their home countries?

T. Magnificent. Look at the screen: people have done sports since ancient times.
We know it from wall paintings and old manuscripts.
T. Tell me, please, what are the oldest, the most famous, the most fascinating and the most prestigious competitions?
T. Where do they appear?
P 3. They appear in Ancient Greece not far from the mountain Olympus, which gave them its name.
T. When were the first Olympic games in ancient times?
P 4. The first Olympic games in ancient times took place in 776 BC (seven hundred and seventy-six before Christ).
T. What sports were there in the first games?
P. In the program of the first games there was running, disc throwing, javelin throwing, long jump and wrestling.
T. Can you name the world famous scientist who was the Olympic champion and which sport he won?
P 5. It was Pythagoras. He was a champion in pankration (a kind of wrestling).
T. Do you know his most famous discoveries?
P 6. The theorem of Pythagoras and the multiplication table named in his honour.
T. Games were prohibited and when were they restarted?
P 7. Modern Olympic games were renovated in 1896 (eighteen ninety-six) in the Athens.
T. Who was the founder of modern Olympic games?

T. Do you know the Olympic anthem?
P 1. In latin: Citius, altius, fortius.
T. And In English?
P 2. Faster, higher, stronger.

Т. Wonderful. For additional information, Olympic games were held in our country two times. Who knows when?
P 5. Summer games were in Moscow in 1980 (nineteen eighty) and winter games took place in Sochi in 2014 (the year of two thousand and fourteen).
T. Do you know our Olympic champions?
P 6. There are 371 (three hundred and seventy-one) champions in our country, in my opinion the most famous are Irina Rodnina ( figure skating) and Vladislav Tretyak ( hockey). These are them who lit the Olympic Flame in Sochi.
T. I see you know a lot about sport, but do you like to practice sports or to watch on TV?
P 7. Both doing sports and watching on TV.
T. Very well, but can you tell us about your favourite sport?
P 1. My favourite sport is football. Football is a team game. It appeared in England almost 800 (eight hundred) years ago. A football team consists of ten players and a goal-keeper. The players are forwards, halfbacks and backs. The aim of the game is to kick a ball into the goal of another team. It is prohibited to play with hands and arms.
T. Well, you are a fan of football. Who wants to tell about his or her favourite sport?
P 2. May I tell? I want to tell about basketball. This kind of sport is called so because players throw a ball into the basket. Officially the home of basketball is the USA. But some people, studying the History of Azteks (American Indians) say that they played a similar game with a ball. If a player scores a basket, he gets two points, and sometimes three points if there are more than five meters to the basket.
T. It’s interesting, and what about your favourite sport?
P 3. My favourite sport is figure skating. This kind of sport appeared in the Netherlands. It is very popular in all over the world. Sportsmen compete in pairs (dancing or sports couples) and alone ( separately men and women). Sportsmen skate, jump and roll. It is very spectacular. There are many Olympic and world champions in our country.
T. Wonderful. And what is your favourite sport?
P 4. It is tennis. Tennis is a very beautiful game. Especially, when women play this game. The home of tennis is France. Tennis match is called a game. A sportsman plays against another, sometimes, they both play in pairs. They play with a rocket and a small ball. They need to throw a ball into the part of the opponent. Tennis sport uniform is always white and beautiful.
T. Good job. May be this is you?
P 5. Why no! My favourite sport is boxing. Boxing is called the sport of gentlemen. That’s why this kind of sport was invented in Great Britain. Two sportsmen, called boxers fight in the square place which is called the ring. Sportsmen have undershirts and long pants on. They knock each other trying to make the opponent fall. This case the referee will count till ten and if the sportsman can not stand up, he will lose.
T. you have worked a lot, and now you need some time to relax. Look at the screen and repeat after the characters. Stand up and move.

T. Now a written task. On the screen there is an English text where in brackets verbs are in infinitive. You need to write the words in proper forms. Open your exercise-books, write the date and the theme “Olympic games”. Below write the numbers from 1 up to 35. You must write only one word – the right form of the verbs.

P 6. Regular verbs add suffix ED, irregular verbs have special forms, we can find them in the table in the end of the textbook.
T. How many past tenses are there in English?
P 3. There are four and they have different meanings.
P 4. I think it is more complex than in Russian language.
