A Glance at British Spring Holidays
Pupil 1: Good afternoon! Today we are going to present you some of the British spring holidays and traditions closely connected with them.
Pupil 2: We’d like to start with a very colourful holiday - St. Patrick’s Day. Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.
And we invite you to dance with us.

Pupil 1: Pancake Day ( also known as Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent. It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes. On Pancake Day, "pancake races" are held in villages and towns across the United Kingdom. This year we decided to organize such race at our school. We had a lot of fun and got precious experience. (слайды 12-18)
Pupil 2: Then Mothers’ Day comes. Children pay tribute to their mothers and thank them for all their love and support. Mothering Sunday is a time when children pay respect to their Mothers. Children often give their Mothers a gift and a card.
And this is our gift to all the mothers.
( a song) Maher Zain - Number One For Me (Love you mom)
I was a foolish little child
Crazy things I used to do
And all the pain I put you through
Mama now I'm here for you
For all the times I made you cry
The days I told you lies
Now it's time for you to rise
For all the things you sacrificed
Chorus:
Oh, if I could turn back time rewind
If I could make it undone
I swear that I would
I would make it up to you
Mum I'm all grown up now
It's a brand new day
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day
Mum I'm all grown up now
And it's not too late
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day
And now I finally understand
Your famous line
About the day I'd face in time
'Cause now I've got a child of mine
And even though I was so bad
I've learned so much from you
Now I'm trying to do it too
Love my kid the way you do
CHORUS
You know you are the number one for me (x3)
Oh, oh, number one for me
There's no one in this world that can take your place
Oh, I'm sorry for ever taking you for granted, ooh
I will use every chance I get
To make you smile, whenever I'm around you
Now I will try to love you like you love me
Only God knows how much you mean to me
CHORUS
You know you are the number one for me (x3)
Oh, oh, number one for me
(слайды 19-28)
Pupil 1: Easter is a very popular holiday in Great Britain. At Easter the British celebrate the idea of the new birth by giving each other chocolate Easter eggs, which are opened and eaten on Easter Sunday.
Egg-rolling is a traditional Easter pastime which is still popular.
Aside from eggs, the best-known English Easter food is probably the hot cross bun. We’d like to give you traditional Easter presents made by our students.

Pupil 2: Many fans and enthusiasts of William Shakespeare, who was one of England’s greatest poets and dramatists, celebrate National Shakespeare Day, also known as Shakespeare Day, on April 23 each year.
The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare.
Special pageants |ˈpædʒənt| are held at Stratford-upon-Avon, where Shakespeare was born and where thousands of tourists go each year to see his plays performed. We offer you to listen to one of his sonnets.
(sonnet) William Shakespeare. Sonnet 130
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun.
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
