Тема: «Countries and Nationalities»

Цель: создать для учащихся необходимые условия для обобщения материала по теме урока.

Учебно-методические задачи.

Практические:

- активизация навыков и умений по совершенствованию в говорении (диалогической, монологической речи), аудировании, обучение элементам проектной деятельности;

- узнавать в письменном и устном тексте, воспроизводить и употреблять в речи лексические единицы, обслуживающие ситуацию общения.

- Общеобразовательные:

- привлечение учащихся к активной творческой деятельности;

- формирование коммуникативного поведения;

Развивающие:

- развитие памяти, внимания, логического мышления, цельности высказывания.

Воспитательные

- развивать познавательный интерес к различным странам,

- обучение навыкам взаимопонимания;

- формировать чувство ответственности при работе в паре;

-воспитывать интерес к английскому языку как средству общения; к многообразию средств английского языка.

Здоровьесберегающие:

- создание условий для организации и обеспечения образовательного процесса.

Оборудование:

-мультимедийный проектор, мультимедийная презентация «Countries and Nationalities», компьютер, раздаточный материал.

 

Содержательная часть урока.

1. Оргмомент. Приветствие учителя и учащихся.

2. Беседа дежурных о времени года, месяце, дне недели, отсутствующих учащихся.

3. Представление темы урока. T: The topic of our lesson today is “Countries and Nationalities”. At first I’d like you to recite the poem “Bridges” by Edith Segal (Чтение хором за учителем).

If I were a builder,
I’d make big bridges,
Bridges to far away lands:
To Asia, to Africa, South America,
Bridges to Europe, Iceland, Iraq.
I’d walk round the world
To visit the people,
And when we shook hands
We’d make little bridges.

4. T: I know that you’ve prepared your literary translations of this poem. Will you read them?

Один из переводов учащихся:

Был бы я строитель, 
Строил я б мосты,
Чтоб сдружились крепко
Он, и я и ты.
Построил б мост я в Азию,
В Исландию, в Ирак,
Соединил б Евразию и Африку.
Вот так!
И мы б ходили в гости 
Друг к другу, я и ты, 
И между нами были бы
Маленькие мосты!

5. T: On the blackboard you can see the flags of some countries. Look at a flag and name the country, please. Then go to the blackboard, write the name of the country and spell it.

6. T: People of different nationalities live in these countries. I’ll name the country and you’ll name the nationality: Russia – Russian, the USA – American, etc.

7. T: Now I’d like you to play a game. One of you will come to the blackboard, choose a flag of a country. He/she will not show you the flag. Your task is to guess his /her nationality asking questions: Are you from …? Are you Russian? etc. Работа в режиме S1> S2.

8. T: Now I’d like you to open your Student’s books at page 21, Ex.6. Here you can see some book and film characters (плакат с их изображением вывешивается на доску:

1) At first pronounce their names after me:

2) Listen to the cassette;

3) Say where these characters are from. Start your answer with “I think”. For example: I think Superwoman is from the USA.

Учитель комментирует ответы учеников и прикрепляет название страны напротив персонажа, затем хоровая отработка предложений:

9. T: Now you know that Sherlock Holmes is from Britain. But the official name of this country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It’s a very interesting country and I want S1 and S2 to tell you about it. Listen attentively, and then you’ll answer their questions. (Рассказ учащихся о Соединенном Королевстве)

10. Answer the following questions:

What is the capital of the UK?

What are the four main nationalities in the United Kingdom?

Is the official language English or Russian? Etc.

11. T: When two people meet for the first time they want to know as much as possible about each other. Now I’d like you to listen to the dialogue between a boy and a girl. Two of you will talk, the others will fill in the information they hear.

12. T: Julia Stone is from the USA and Tom Smith is from Britain. S1, what country are you from?

S1: I am from Russia.

T: Is Russia a big country? What part of Russia do you live in?

S1: I live in the Republic of Mari El.

T: Let’s read the text about our republic one by one.

THE REPUBLIC OF MARI EL

Our republic is called Mari El. There are two parts in our republic: the Left–Bank Lowland and the Right-Bank Highland.

Mari El borders on the Nizhegorodsky Region, on the Kirov Region, on the Republic of Tatarstan and on the Chuvash Republic. There are four towns in Mari El. They are Yoshkar – Ola, Volzhsk, Zvenigovo and Kozmodemyansk. The capital of our republic is Yoshkar – Ola.

People of different nationalities live in Mari El. They are Russians, Maris, Tatars, Chuvashes, Udmurts.

The Republic of Mari El is rich in forests, rivers and lakes. Different animals and birds live in our forests. Our lakes and rivers are full of fish.

I am happy to live in the Republic of Mari El.

T: Now I’d like you to correct my wrong statements:

Our republic is called the Mari Region.

There are ten towns in our republic.

The capital of our republic is Kozmodemyansk.

Only Mari people live in the Republic of Mari El.

There are no forests in our republic.

People are not happy in our republic.

13. T: Look at the blackboard. Here you can see the names of some countries and nationalities. But every word has a missing letter. Your task is to remember this letter and to write it down.

T: Read and translate the sentence we’ve got. (I love my country)
