First fact

The village of Motovilo was founded by the militia of Minin and Pozharsky after the liberation of Moscow, returning from Nizhny Novgorod, they noticed a remarkable lake and settled near it. Among these settlers were primarily Vyatichi and dorogobuzha. The first inhabitants built their homes with windows facing the sun and the lake.

Second fact

Title according to one version, it came from the word "reel" - a tool of weaving accessories, which in the old days women used to wind yarn while weaving canvas. This type of occupation was very important for the villagers: the crops of hemp and flax here were huge. The second version draws our attention to the Motovilov family, who owned land in the Nizhny Novgorod province.

The third fact

In 1770, the wooden church of Our Lady of God was built, which was soon surrounded by stone, and was the highest of the others.

Let's start our route with the Church in Motovilovo.

In 1770, a wooden church was built in the village in honour of the Intercession of the Blessed Mary. From 1834 to 1837 the construction of a stone church took place. It was built by the parishioners with the help of savings books issued from the consistory. A stone bell tower was built at the church. After 50 years, the church was surrounded by a very beautiful stone fence, into which later in 1888 a stone house was built - a gatehouse. There were more than 30 people in the church choir.

During long years, since 1934 the church didn't have its building.

In 2001, the church regained its building. On February 13, 2001, with the blessing of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, the dean of the Arzamas district, Father Evgeny Novozhilov and the initiators of the restoration of the shrine, work began on the revival of the temple. In 2007, a bell tower was built near the church.

Now it is an important place for people who believe in God and want to be a part of the orthodoxal world.

The Monument in honour of died soldiers

In 1975 just before the 30th anniversary of the Victory the monument in honour of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic war was established in Motovilovo. It is located in the main part of the village and it is a place of tears and happiness at the same time, because recruits were sent to the front from here and they came back here. Many of them died but we have to remember about them and their acts of bravery.

You are always welcome to Motovilovo secondary school.

The Museum of Nature after S.I.Trofimov:

The
Museum of Nature after S. I. Trofimov was founded in 1955 by hunters of the Chernukhin district hunting society. The Museum is unique. The peculiarity of the Museum is that it was created by hunters, who did not have any money or technical experiences to create institutions of this kind, but only a great desire to leave a good memory to descendants.

All the exhibits related to nature were obtained in our forests, only two of them were presented to the Museum – a Siberian squirrel and a deer caught in the Mordovian reserve and given to our hunters in gratitude for the creation of the Museum.

The oldest hunters took an active part in collecting of the exhibits: S. I. Trofimov, M. A. Kiselev, A. Vostokov, B. A. Veselovsky, V. V. Medvedev, I. Ya.Katashin, V. V. Ledyankin.
