Урок : « В городе»

Этот урок проводится в 6 классе рамках изучения темы “In the City”. Урок посвящен закреплению и изучению предлогов. На уроке используется видеозапись диалога, упражнения к видеозаписи.

Задачи: совершенствовать навыки говорения; обучить аудированию ; обучить новым лексическим единицам; активизировать новые лексические единицы в устной речи и письме

Тема урока: “Map of the city” (Карта города)

Цели урока: развитие речевых компетенций, умений аудирования, чтения с извлечением частичной и полной информации

Задачи:

Развивающие: развитие мышления, памяти, внимания

Образовательные: формирование коммуникативной компетенции, расширение кругозора

Воспитательные: формирование мотивации к изучению английского языка, толерантности

Оборудование: видеоролик “Asking and giving directions”; карточки с текстом для аудирования, карточки с заданиями к видеофрагменту, картинки, карта города, конверты с заданиями.

ХОД УРОКА

I. Вступительная речь учителя

Our today’s class is devoted to getting about the town. As you all know, people travel a lot nowadays and if you ever have a chance to visit a foreign country you should be able to ask the way to a place you want to go to. On the other hand, lots of tourists from abroad come to Minsk, and it’d be wonderful if you could be helpful and give the necessary directions. So let’s learn how to do so.

And our topic today is “Map of the city”. At first we’ll check your homework and repeat the words, which we learnt yesterday. Then we’ll learn some new words and watch a dialogue? We’ll also practise in using prepositions and making up dialogues with them.

II. Фонетическая зарядка

На доске стихотворение:

Where’s the “D”?

The “D” is in front of the “C”.

Where’s the “C”?

The “C” is behind the “D”.

Where’s the “E”?

The “E” is next to the “D”.

Where are “YOU”?

I’m between “M” and “W”.

Read the poem. ( Учитель убирает предлоги, учащиеся читают стихотворение еще раз.)

III. Проверка домашнего задания

And now it’s time to check your homework. At home you had to draw your place where you live in and tell about the places, that are next to it, opposite it and etc.

IV. Развитие навыков говорения

Repeat the prepositions: next to, opposite, between, behind, in front of. (На доску вывешиваются карточки с предлогами)

Now let’s look at the map of the city. (На доску выводится карта города /учащимся раздаюся аналогичные распечатки)

These boys and this girl live in the city. (показать  фигурки 3 мальчиков и одной девочки). Their names are Nick, Mike, Jack and Liz. Guess where Nick, Mike and Jack’s houses.

Nick’s house is next to the supermarket and behind the hospital. (Учащиеся обозначают  дом Ника и закрепляя фигурку мальчика возле его дома и повторяют, где находится дом.)

Mike’s house is between the church and the hospital.

Jack’s house is opposite the post office and next to the theatre.

Where’s Liz’s house? (Остался последний дом, учащиеся должны сами описать, где живет Лиз)

V. Изучение новых предлогов

Learn prepositions: turn right, turn left, go straight ahead, cross the street, go along the

street.

Nick and Mike are friends. They go to each other. If Nick wants to go to Mike’s place, he goes along Green Street, (показать карточку) cross the road (показать карточку) and then turn right (показать карточку) and goes straight ahead. (показать карточку) Mike’s house is behind the church, next to the post office.

Describe Mike’s way to Nick’s house.

Kate, stand opposite Petya;

Tanya, stand behind Kate;

Sveta, stand next to Tanya.

Misha, stand between Sveta and Tanya.

Now let’s turn to the conversation on video. You’ll see the man who came to England. He goes for a walk and gets lost.

Watch the episode and then say what happened in it using the exercise, which you’ll see after the video.

- Sorry, ehm, can you tell me the way to Waterloo Station? I think I’m lost…

- I think you might be, yeah… You’re actually here, right in the middle of Hyde Park.

- Oh, dear!

- It’s no problem at all!

- All you need to do is continue straight on through St. James’ Park.

- Yes…

- And then, when you get to the Houses of Parliament, turn left… Then go across the bridge…

- OK.

- And then it’s first right and you’re there, that’s Waterloo Station.

- Great, OK, so… ehm… Through Hyde Park, and then right at the Houses of Parliament.

- No, no, no, LEFT at the Houses of |Parliament.

- Right! (=OK) Left at the houses of parliament.

- Ehm… Cross the bridge…

- That’s it.

- And then… to the right?

- First on the right!

- First on the right.

- And that’s Waterloo Station!

- Fantastic. Thank you very much. Bye!

- No problem, you’re welcome! Bye.

After the video the pupils do the exercise.

VII Развитие навыков слушания и письма

Заранее в классе спрятаны конверты с заданиями для каждого ученика (в шкафу, на подоконнике, у доски и т.д)

Try to find your envelope following instructions.

Stand up. Go straight ahead, turn left, go to the bookcase, open it. Take a yellow envelope. There’s a task for you. Come back to your place and do the task in your exercise book. Now, Oleg, try to find your task, stand up, turn right…
