Description: The Urals are the core of Russia, its spinal column, the support. Those who discover the Urals will discover Russia. The Urals are the cross-roads. They are of universal character, because they combine the past and the future, power and lyrics, mountains and steppes, techniques and culture, inhabited and deserted places. There are so many interesting places in the Urals and its capital – Yekaterinburg.

Introduction
 

The ancient ridge of the Ural Mountains stretching for two thousand kilometers presents a natural boundary between Europe and Asia, at the same time, a link, a steel seam, tying up the two parts of the world in a single grand Continent of Eurasia. The Ural Mountains, which are also called the Stone Belt, extend for2500 km from hot Kazakh Steppes to the frozen coast of the Arctic Ocean.

The Urals are the core of Russia, its spinal column, the support. Those who discover the Urals will discover Russia. The Urals are the cross-roads. They are of universal character, because they combine the past and the future, power and lyrics, mountains and steppes, techniques and culture, inhabited and deserted places. There are so many interesting places in the Urals and its capital – Yekaterinburg.

Task

You work as guides and you need to prepare a travel program for tourists from abroad, who are going to travel around the Urals.

You are going to choose the places you think our guests would like to visit; to gather information about those places and design the perfect program.

You can work individually or in groups of two.

The task is to create a PowerPoint Presentation "Welcome to the Urals" or a travel booklet about the Urals or Yekaterinburg.

Использование технологии "веб-квест" способствует решению важных задач при изучении иностранного языка: обеспечивается самостоятельность учащихся; развивается коммуникативная компетенция; осуществляется индивидуальный подход в обучении; повышается мотивация учащихся к применению языковых знаний и изучению нового языкового материала; используется большое количество актуальной аутентичной информации; развивается критическое мышление, тренируются мыслительные способности обучающихся.
