For me, the hottest topic of discussion is distance education. Many teachers have encountered it due to the pandemic. Distance learning is gaining popularity every day.

A distinctive feature of the time in which we live is the rapid penetration of information technology in all spheres of life. Information and communication technologies occupy one of the leading places in the system of modern education. The appearance of the computer in educational institutions made it possible to form children's thinking style that meets the requirements of the modern information society.

Distance learning - is it good or not? Let's look at the main pros and cons of this type of training.

The advantages of distance education include:

 Learning at an individual pace - the speed of learning is set by the student himself, depending on his personal circumstances and needs.

Freedom and flexibility - the student can independently plan the time, place and duration of classes.

Accessibility-independence from the geographical and temporary location of the student and educational institution allows you to not limit yourself in educational needs.

Mobility-effective implementation of feedback between the teacher and the student is one of the main requirements and grounds for the success of the learning process.

Technology-the use of the latest achievements of information and telecommunications technologies in the educational process.

Social equality - equal opportunities to receive education regardless of the place of residence, health status, elitism and material security of the student.

Program development - well-developed training programs and courses.

Creativity - comfortable conditions for creative self-expression of the student. 

There is no doubt that modern children are able to master the skills of working with various electronic computer innovations with enviable ease. And distance learning for many children, especially primary school age, is associated with another computer game.

Of course, nothing can replace the warmth of communication to a child.

It is very difficult for a teacher without remote work experience to organize training at the appropriate pace and volume.

Obvious disadvantages of distance learning:

Lack of face-to-face communication between students and the teacher. In other words, all aspects related to individual approach and upbringing are excluded. And when there is no one around who can emotionally color knowledge, this is a significant drawback.

The need for a number of individual psychological conditions. Distance learning requires strict self-discipline, and its result directly depends on the independence and consciousness of the student.

The need for constant access to information sources. You need good technical equipment: a computer and Internet access.

As a rule, students feel a lack of practical training.

There is no constant control over students, which is a powerful incentive.

In distance education, the basis of training is only written. For some, not being able to Express their knowledge verbally can also become a stumbling block.

A computer is harmful to a child, but since life has developed so that we can no longer do without a computer, it is necessary to find ways to reduce the harm caused to a child by a computer, and try to teach your children to benefit in addition to harm.

This is also something new for me. But I see both the pros and some of the cons of distance learning. Of course, if I have to go back to work remotely, I will be able to adapt and teach children without much harm to their health and knowledge.
