Now please, let’s check our home task. Let’s listen to the announcement. What type of holiday does it suggest?(1-31)

The announcement suggests a holiday at some kind of camp.

Now please, open your books page 39. Look at the title and the holiday brochure. What could someone do at these camps?(1-32)

Go swimming…

Play games…

Go to the theatre…

Right you are, well done! Now let’s listen to the recording and check our answers on the question “What could someone do at these camps?”

What can we add?

There were many things visitors could do at the camp. People could play games, enter talent show and other competitions, ride on a railway, swim, play in the playgrounds, and go to the theatre.

Thank you. Now let’s read the text and then we will make some exercises. …read the text, please. …translate please.

Now answer the questions, please. … read the question number …(6) .

1.Where did the British use to go on holiday? They used to go to camps.

2.What could someone do at Butlin’s camps? They could play games, ride on a miniature train, swim in a swimming pools, play in adventure playgrounds, watch theatre shows.

3.Where did the campers eat? In large dining halls.

4.Why did holiday camps go out of fashion? Because package holidays became popular, mainly because they were cheap.

5.Are there any Butlin’s camps today? Yes, there are three camps.

6.What can guests do there nowadays? They can stay in apartments and luxury hotels, eat at restaurants, attend concerts/pantomimes & films and have fun at water parks/funfairs.

Very well. Let’s do exercise 3. You are to find synonyms for the items (small, terrible, variety, amusement park, dated, fixed, cosy, survive, roomy) in the text above.
