Урок по английскому языку в 7 классе

Тема урока: «Экскурсия по городу Чебоксары»

УМК: Е.Ю. Ваулина, Д. Дули. Английский в фокусе.7 класс: учебник для общеобразовательных учреждений.

Цель: расширение знаний учащихся о своем городе, активизация лексико-грамматического материала

Задачи:

образовательные: активизировать познавательную деятельность учащихся, развивать коммуникативную и информационную компетенции учащихся

развивающие: научить работать с дополнительными источниками информации, выступать перед аудиторией, формировать умение выделять главное

воспитательные: совершенствовать навыки общения, воспитывать общую культуру, любовь к своему родному городу

Тип урока: комбинированный

Планируемые образовательные результаты:

предметные: смогут читать и слушать текст с пониманием необходимой информации, применить полученные знания, вести диалог по образцу, написать письмо другу

метапредметные: смогут осознанно использовать речевые средства в соответствии с задачей коммуникации.

 личностные: смогут продемонстрировать коммуникативные компетентности в процессе образовательной деятельности, работать в группе, понять свои интересы

Ход урока

1. Организационный этап. Постановка цели и задач урока.

Teacher: Good morning dear children. I hope you are well. Our lesson won’t be ordinary one today. We are going to make a virtual tour of Cheboksary. You may say to me, ‘What for? We live here. We know everything about our hometown. We don’t need any excursions.’ Let’s check whether you are right. Look at the board, choose the correct answer.

Let’s start our tour.

3. Усвоение нового материала.

1) Read the text about Cheboksary.

Cheboksary is the capital of the Chuvash Republic. It is a very beautiful town. It is situated on the right bank of the Volga River. Its population is over 450,000. Russian and Chuvash are official languages here. Cheboksary has its flag. Its coat of arms is a silver shield with five silver ducks.

Cheboksary is an ancient town. It was founded in 1469. The fortress and the settlement were built by the Russians in 1555. It became an important trade center of the Volga region by the end of the 17th century. Cheboksary received the town status in 1781. There were 25 churches and 4 monasteries. At the end of the 19th century the population was about 5500, the town had a sawmill and several small manufactures. In 1880, there were 783 houses (33 of them from stone), 91 stores, 3 schools, 2 hospitals, and a bank.

Nowadays Cheboksary is an industrial, cultural center of the Republic. In total, Cheboksary has 97 historical and cultural monuments. There are a lot of museums, galleries in Cheboksary. The Chuvash National Museum, the Chuvash State Art Museum, the V.I. Chapaev Museum, the Chuvash Embroidery Museum, Victory Memorial Park are really interesting for tourists. Five state professional theatres are situated here. They are the Chuvash Opera House, the Chuvash Drama Theatre, the Russian Drama Theatre, the Youth and the Puppet Theatres. International events such as the Cheboksary International Ballet Festival, the International M.D. Mikhailov Opera Festival and the Cheboksary International Film Festival attract a lot of guests. Another event that is annually held in Cheboksary is the International Festival of Fireworks.

Cheboksary is a clean and green town. If you look at it from a bird’s eye view, it will seem to be one large park. There are also some natural reserves.

Student 1: Most of the sightseeing tours start with walking along the Boulevard of Efremof. You can enjoy the beautiful view, buy souvenirs, take photos near Statue of Ostap Bender and Kisa Vorobyaninov, characters of Ilf and Petrov's popular book ‘12 Chais’. There is a sign on the monument with a quote from the book where Cheboksary is mentioned. The author of the statue is Nagornov.

On the right, there is the Chuvash National Museum. It was founded in 1921. The museum's funds have more than 146,000 exhibits. Permanent exhibition has 3 halls: nature, archaeological and historical studies, and the new history of the region. The Museum has several branches: The Literary Museum; The Chapayev Museum, the Museum of Cosmonautics in the village of Shorshely, the Outdoor Ethnographic Museum in Ibresi.

Student 2: Lets’ go to Red Square. It is one of the most popular places in Cheboksary. All the important events are held here. The Chuvash State Drama Theatre named after Konstantin Ivanov is situated in Red Square. It was founded in 1918 in Kazan by I.S. Maximov-Koshkinsky. In 1920 the theatre moved to Cheboksary. In 1959 it was named after K. Ivanov, the founder of the Chuvash literature, the author of the poem Narspi. The repertoire of the theatre includes plays by Chuvash playwrights, as well as translated into Chuvash works by Russian and foreign authors. The theatre offers a lot of interesting performances for children. Near the theatre, there is Konstantin Ivanov Monument. Konstantin Ivanov is one of the most celebrated Chuvash poets and writers. This statue was unveiled in 1995.

Student 3: You can see the most attractive and popular place in the town, the Ceboksary Bay. Marvelous buildings, churches, museums and theatres surround this man-made bay. Its embankment is a favourite place to spend time for locals and a lot of guests. There is Light Bridge over the Bay. Thanks to unique illumination, the bridge to the Monument of Mother in Cheboksary turned into the longest light tunnel in Russia. It is believed that if you walk along Light Bridge and make a wish, it will certainly come true. In front of you, you see Mother Patroness Monument. It is one of the landmarks of the town and its new symbol. The sculptor is V. Nagornov.

Student 4: Let’s go up the hill to the historical part of Cheboksary. Walking along K. Ivanov’ Street, you can see architectural masterpieces literally at each step: old houses, churches. On the top of the hill is Presentation Cathedral. It is the oldest church in Chuvashia and the only surviving monument of the XVII century. The cathedral was founded by decree of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. The temple was completed in 1657. There is the Chuvash State Art Museum: Russian and Foreign Art Department opposite the cathedral. The museum displays works by various Russian masters and some western artists. There is also a hall displaying Russian icons.

IO If you take a bus tour, you’ll see all the major sights.

T That sounds fun. Are there any festivals on at the moment?

IO Yes, the International Ballet Festival. You can see any performance in the Opera House this week. It’s better to book the tickets in advance.
