Grammar Review

Verbs that express likes and dislikes: love / like / enjoy / not mind / hate. They are followed by a gerund. Grammar review Subject Verb Gerund I You We They love / like / enjoy / hate don’t mind don’t like swimming singing playing dancing jogging He/She/It loves / likes / enjoys / hates doesn’t mind doesn’t like Verbs that express likes and dislikes

Examples: I love cooking. You like playing sports. (=enjoy) We enjoy sleeping in on the weekend. (=like) She doesn’t mind playing cards. (It’s not her favorite activity, but it’s OK.) They don’t like playing chess. He hates painting. It likes jumping on the couch. NOTE: You can use “really” or “very much” to make the verb stronger. Examples: I really like swimming. She enjoys dancing very much. Tony really hates reading books. NOTE: Don’t use “very” + verb! I really love eating. (NOT: I very love eating.)
