5 Great Summer Jobs for Teenagers
Are you a student looking to make some money over the summer months? Most students need a way to keep themselves busy, and doing so while earning money seems like the perfect choice!

1. Begin Own Business
Beginning your own summer business sounds scary but it’s surprisingly easy to do! It can be as simple as dog walking, cleaning, or babysitting for neighbors. Simply invest in some business cards/flyers and post them around your neighborhood.
This will not only help you to earn some money, but will also give you skills in running a business, learning about organization, practicing time-management, and building on your self-confidence – all things future employers will love!

2. Food Industry
A very popular summer job for teens is working in the food industry, usually as a waiter/waitress or a kitchen assistant. Over the summer months these businesses tend to blossom and so employ extra staff to cope with demand, usually thanks to tourists!
Working in such an environment will develop your social skills and confidence. This job will also allow you to earn a decent amount, as even if your money is on minimum wage you can top this up with tips – and the better you are at your job, the higher your tips will be!

3. Internship
If you know exactly what line of work you want to go into, why not start on an internship over summer? While some internships aren’t paid, many are, and either way they give you invaluable experience into the line of work you wish you enter. Many internship’s also lead directly into fully paid jobs, if not with the same company then with a similar one who values that experience on your CV.
4. Retail
For a lot of teens working in retail seems the perfect summer job. Working in retail can involve a mixture of being a shop assistant, a shelf stocker, doing inventory checks or working in customer services. To work in this field you will need people skills and confidence, and the best employees can find themselves with ongoing evening and weekend work when the summer finishes.
5. Call Centre
Call centres can be found in almost every big town and city, and they are almost always in need of new staff, especially over the summer months. You won’t be working in direct contact with people so social skills aren’t necessary; however politeness, patience and confidence are required, and likely an aptitude for sales if you’ll be selling rather than simply answering customer service calls.
Again, this job can lead into a permanent job, and you’ll learn multi-tasking, problem solving and how to think on your feet!
