Цель урока:

систематизация и обобщение знаний по теме «Модальные глаголы»

Задачи урока:

1. Образовательные: совершенствование умения употреблять модальные глаголы, выражающие долженствование, в речи.

2. Развивающие: развитие способности к сравнению, умозаключению; развитие умения анализировать, делать выводы.

3. Воспитательные: воспитание уважения к правилам поведения на дороге, умение соблюдать правила, уважать закон.

1. Учебник. К.И.Кауфман, М.Ю. Кауфман,“Happy English.ru ” 8 класс

2. Компьютер и проектор.

Ход урока.

2. Актуализация знаний.

Look at the picture and imagine that we are drivers of this car. We see the road sign ”Turn right”… tell me, please.

Should we go right? Must we go right? or Do we have to go right?

Well, I see that our answers have divided.

Are there any differences in translation of these verbs?

Is it important for you to see the difference in translation of these modal verbs?

Is it a problem for you to choose the verb in this situation?

3. Постановка учебной проблемы.

Дорогие ребята, мы с вами выполняем разнообразные действия каждый день. Есть действия, которые мы выполняем самостоятельно без чьей-либо помощи. Есть действия, которые мы должны выполнять, потому что мы сами этого хотим. А есть действия, которые мы вынуждены выполнять, т.к этого хочет кто-то другой.

Look at your desks. You have got the words. Make a sentence using these words.

1) We go right. – translate it.

What can you tell me about this sentence?

What does the verb know mean tell me in Russian?

Now look at your desks again. You have another word. Put it in your sentence and read the new one, please.

2) We must go right. – translate it.

What is the difference between the verb and the modal verb, tell me in Russian?

Put the verbs into the first sentence. What do you have?

3) We should go right – translate it.

4) We have to go right. – translate it.

Are there any differences in translation of these sentences?

Open your books, please, on page 90, read the rule and look at the table.

5. Первичное закрепление.

Return to our picture, what is the most suitable modal verb for this picture?

Look at the next pictures and choose from should or mustn’t, explain your answers.

6. Физкультминутка.

Let’s have a small rest. Look at the screen, please, and imagine a nice winter day.

7. Применение нового знания на практике.

Let’s do ex. 2 on page 91 together

Read the task and translate it.

That’s enough. Let’s work in pairs.

The pupils of the 1st row do the 3rd sentence and explain their choice.

The pupils of the 2nd row do the 4th sentence and explain their choice.

The pupils of the 3rd row do the 5th sentence and explain their choice.

1) Complete the text with the correct modal verb using positive and negative form.

2) Read the extract from the novel and choose must or have to.

3) Mum is writing the notice to her son; help her to complete it with modal verbs.
