(читают правильные ответы).

3) Good of you! Let’s turn back to our optical illusions.

We’ll do ex. 1 p. 48. Read the task.

1) How many faces can you see in picture A?

3) What do you see in picture C – an old couple, a vase or two people: one playing the guitar and the other listening?

1) three faces;

2) two dogs ( two heads, four bodies)

3) all of them

4) Open your workbooks on p. 27 and do ex. 4

What is an optical illusion?

Now you will work in small groups. I’ll give you some cards with words. Make up a sentence and give a definition of optical illusion.

Optical Illusion is the impression of a visible object not as in reality when our eyes or our brain can make a mistake.

3. Физкультминутка. Close your eyes and listen to the examples of optical illusions in our life.

When you stand on the road and look far forward, it seems the road narrows and then turns to a point.

On a hot day the surface of a road doesn’t seem flat, it looks like sea waves.

When two trains are staying at the station and the other train starts moving, it seems that your train starts moving too.

When we are in a traffic jam and all the cars don’t move, then the nearest car starts its moving, it seems that your own car moves back.

When you look at the top of a high building and clouds are floating in the sky, it seems that the building is falling down.

We notice such things but forget about them very quickly. But there are people among us who watch our world more attentively, take an interest in these things. Besides they have bright and vivid imagination, they show people real objects in surprising and unusual ways.

What are they?

Artists, photographers, designers and etc.

4. Этап усвоения новых знаний.

What are the reasons of optical illusions - is our next question. We can find the answer in the text: ex. 2a p. 48. Read task a): But you see the text is not completed. Let’s do task b).

If you are ready let’s listen and check! (1D, 2F, 3A, 4B, 5E).

Now take card №2. Work in groups and fill in the table, please:

It will help you to make a report. (4 minutes)

(Card №2)

What are the reasons of optical illusion?

What examples of optical illusion do you know?

What can optical illusion teach us?

Listen to your reports. ( каждая группа зачитывает информацию из одной колонки)

Practical work

Now we’ll try to illustrate that our mind is an artist and we, together with our mind, are artists too. We’ll do a very creative task. Each team has the sets of the same elements of different shapes. Your task is to create a picture and name it if it’s possible. To do this task each team has to choose the background for its picture. They are in different colours. Come up and choose.

S: (Do the task.)

T: Now. Look at your works at art. Show us your pictures. What can you see?

6. Рефлексия. Подведение итогов.

Dear friends! I should say that our conference has come to an end. It was of great success and importance because we have solved all our tasks:

We know what is Optical Illusion and the reasons of it. Do you agree with me?

Write a cinqwayn about OPTICAL ILLUSION

If you forget what it is, I’ll remind you.

It is a kind of poem, which consists of 5 lines (this word has French origin; cinq means five in French).

the first line is a general word

the second line consists of two adjectives which describe this word

the third line includes 3 verbs on the topic

the fourth line is the main idea of your “poem” (It must consist of 4 words)

and the last line is a synonym of the general word .

Today we have talked about optical illusions but in reality we have talked about the world around us.

It is really amazing!

All of you tried to do your best at the lesson.

Thank you for your work. Our lesson is over. Good bye.
