Teacher: Good morning, dear students and guests. I am glad to see you.
The theme of our lesson is «At the hotel».
Every year thousands of people travel to different countries or cities on business or for pleasure. Travelling, they stay at the hotels, hostels or guest- houses. Everybody must learn to stay at the hotel without any problems. Are you agree with me? Is it a difficult situation?
Let”s play a little at the lesson. Imagine that you are participants of the Congress. The lawyers from different countries are coming to the Congress to decide the problems for human rights. We are going to work hard at the Congress. But we are very tired and our task is to choose a right place to have a rest.

The Astoria hotel is located in the centre of St. Petersburg. It has 430 quest-rooms. They include several apartments, suits, single and double rooms. There is a sauna, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a laundry, repairs and dry cleaning and souvenir kiosk at the hotel. At the service bureau you can get necessary travel information. The Astoria hotel is the heart hotel in Russia. Many well-known political leaders, actors, singers, artists and poets stayed at the hotel.

Let me introduce the manager of our hotel, she wants to tell you about this hotel.
Student 1(manager). Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Our hotel is modern and well equipped. We have single and double rooms. The rooms are comfortable and clean. This is a private bathroom, a TV set and a fridge in each room. The price for a night is reasonable. Breakfast is between 7 and 10 in the restaurant, tea is about 5 p.m and dinner is at 6 or 7. Our visitors can also order meals by phone. There are coffee-stalls and snack –bars on every floor. There is an information stand in the lobby. The hotel has some facilities - a barbers and a hairdressers, a foreign currency bank, a post-office, a dry-cleaners, a shoe repair shop and a laundry. Our hotel was especially built for congresses, conferences and business meetings. And now dear guests, I invite you to come to make arrangements about the rooms.
Please try to be polite. Welcome to our hotel.

- Yes, of course. It is clean, comfortable and quite. Front room.
- Is there a shower?
- There is a private bathroom, a TV-set, a telephone and a fridge in it.
- How much is it?
- It costs 70 dollars a night.
- It is a reasonable price. Will you sign here, please. Here is your key. Our porter will help you with your luggage.

- We have a snack bar which serves light refreshments.
- And what about evening entertainments?
- Well, we have a dance every evening.
- Uh-huh, good. Anything else in the way of facilities?
Yes. We have a sauna and own swimming-pool.
