Цели занятия:

-учебные:

обобщить и систематизировать знания по разделу «English-speaking countries»; развивать навыки монологической речи, чтения, письма и аудирования на основе изученного материала;

-воспитательные:

воспитывать интерес и уважение к культурному наследию стран изучаемого языка;

повысить интерес к изучению английского языка;

повысить интерес к будущей профессии,

формировать умение работать в команде (сообща);

-развивающие:

развивать творческую и познавательную активность студентов.

Обеспечение занятия:

наглядные материалы: карта мира, карта «The UK», карта «The USA»,

фото с изображением достопримечательностей Лондона, плакат с изображением достопримечательностей Вашингтона, мультимедийные презентации; на доске – опорный план для краткой характеристики страны;

техническое обеспечение: ноутбук, аудиозапись.

Ход учебного занятия

1. Организационная часть.

- Good afternoon! Sit down, please. Let’s begin our lesson.

- Who is on duty today?

- What date is today? …Please, write down the date in your exercise-books.

- Who is absent? … OK. Thank you.

2. Мотивация предстоящей учебной деятельности: сообщение темы и определение цели занятия.

- Why do we learn the English language? When and where can we use it?

- English is an international language, it is used practically in all spheres of our life? But why did English become an international language?

- Right, the matter is that millions of people all over the world speak English as their native language; there are many English-speaking countries all over the world.

- What are they?

- We have been studying the main English-speaking countries for several lessons. And today we’ll generalize all the information about them and even get acquainted with new facts while watching and listening to your project presentations about English-speaking countries.

Фонетическая зарядка:

- Before you begin to speak English we’ll train your organs of speech.

- Please, repeat after me all together (отрабатывается произношение лексических единиц с опорой на план, записанный на доске; а также произношение географических названий). Now you are ready to speak English.

3.Обобщение и систематизация знаний.

3.1. Обобщение и систематизация знаний по микротеме “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland”.

3.1.1. Фронтальный опрос (с опорой на план, записанный на доске):

- What is the official name of Great Britain?

- Where is it situated?

- What parts does it consist of?

- What seas and oceans is it washed by?

- What countries does it border?

- What are the main rivers of the country?

- What is the climate of the UK?

- Who is the head of the state?

- What are the main cities of the country?

- What is the capital of the UK?

3.1.2. Составление ассоциограммы о Лондоне.

- Now let’s speak about London.

- What parts is London traditionally divided into?

- Please, go to the blackboard and fill in the gaps in the scheme. 

Постепенно на доске выстраивается ассоциограмма о Лондоне 

- Now let’s remember the sights of London.

Поочерёдно показываются фотографии достопримечательностей Лондона (Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, St.Paul’s Cathedral) и с каждой из них проводится следующая работа:

- What is it?

- In what part of London is it situated? (фото достопримечательности прикрепляется на доску в соответствующую часть ассоциограммы)

- Now, please, tell us some words about London using the scheme.

3.1.3. Презентация проектной работы (по подтеме «The UK») первой творческой группой студентов.

- Your hometask was to present one of the English-speaking countries. The first group of students will present the UK. Please, girls, come to the blackboard.

- All the rest, please, listen to them very carefully and try to understand as much as possible.

- Our experts will evaluate your presentations according to the announced criterions.

3.2. Обобщение и систематизация знаний по микротеме “The United States of America”.

3.2.1. Выполнение лексических упражнений:

- Now let’s speak about another English-speaking country – the USA. First of all let’s check if you know general facts about the country. You will ask each other the questions in chain. The questions are written on these sheets of paper. So, please, pull out a sheet of paper and let’s begin asking and answering the questions in chain. We’ll begin with…

What parts does it consist of?

What oceans is the USA washed by?

What is the area and the popula­tion of the USA?

What city is the capital of America?

What are the highest mountains in the country?

What are the main rivers of the USA?

What is the climate of the country?

What mineral resources is the USA rich in?

What are the main industrial branches in the USA?

Who is the head of the state?

What are the three branches of the US government?

What are the main cities of the USA?

What are the national symbols of the country?

- We have already mentioned the capital of the USA, now let’s remember the sights of Washington. Please, guess the sights I will speak about:

1) The residence of the American President (The White House).

2) The place, where American Congress meets, the highest building in Washington (the Capitol).

3) The largest library in Washington (the Library of Congress).

4) This monument looks like a very big pencil (the Washington monument).

5) This monument was built in memory of the third president of the USA – the author of the Declaration of Independence (the Jefferson Memorial).

6) This memorial is devoted to the memory of the president who gave freedom to negro slaves in America (the Lincoln Memorial).

3.2.3. Презентация проектной работы (по подтеме «The USA») второй творческой группой студентов.

3.3. Обобщение и систематизация знаний по микротемам “Canada”, “Australia”, “New Zealand”.

3.3.1. Презентация проектов по микротемам “Canada”, “Australia”, “New Zealand”.

- We have also presentations of three other English-speaking countries: Canada, Australia and New Zealand. While listening to the groupmates, please, fill in the table with the information about general facts concerning each country.

Прослушивая и просматривая проекты одногруппников, студенты заполняют следующую таблицу:

- Now, please, the presentation of Canada (презентация проекта по подтеме «Канада» третьей группой студентов).

- Students, please, check your work on the general information about Canada using the table on the blackboard (самопроверка).

- Now, please, the presentation of Australia (презентация проекта по подтеме «Австралия» четвёртой группой студентов).

- Students, please, check the works of each other on the general information about Australia using the table on the blackboard (взаимопроверка).

- Now the presentation of New Zealand. Write down the general facts about New Zealand in the third column of the table.

- Now, please, check yourselves. This information should be in your table.

3.4. Выполнение задания по аудированию.

- Now you will listen to four speakers. Each of them will describe an English-speaking country. You are to guess the country of each speaker (организуется 2 прослушивания записи).

Организуется взаимопроверка.
