Открытый урок по теме «What the future holds»

Цели и задачи урока:

Систематизировать, расширить и обобщить знания учащихся по теме «What the future holds»

Совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся и развивать у них метапредметные и межпредметные навыки.

Совершенствовть умения и навыки устной речи с использованием опор на кластер, таблицу, тексты.

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, видео- и аудиозаписи, презентация к уроку, раздаточный материал.

Ход урока:

1.Организационный этап.

Goodmorning, children! I’m glad to see you. How are you? I’m ok, thanks. Sit down, please. Let’s start our lesson.


What date is it today? What is the weather like today? It’s not very cold for our Siberian winter, isn’t it? It’s very unusual. May be it is the beginning of the Global Warming? They say that the weather will be warmer and the Earth will be covered in water.

2. Фонетическая зарядка:

T: First of all, let’s exercise our tongues. Repeat the poem after me, and then read it aloud.

Just Live

We can't predict the future.

We can't change the past.

Maybe we should just live each day

As if it will be our last.

T: What is the future? Can people predict the future?


3. Постановка целей и задач урока. Мотивация учебной деятельности обучающихся.


So, look at the board. What are we going to talk about today? Right you are: about predictions. A prediction. What is it? Yes, it’s something that will happen in the future and we can predict or forecast it. We are going to talk about predictions and ways of expressing the future.


T: So, students, we have great plans for today. We will speak, read, listen Let's do our best!

So, we`ll speak about our future life. Discuss some predictions about the future, what life will be like in 2100, learn how to make predictions about the future.

By the way, what does it mean «predictions»? Try to explain it in English.

- Prediction – imagining what the future will be like or what will happen in the future.

T: Look at the blackboard and read the words

Т: Now let’s remember the words on the topic “Predictions”. Look at the pictures and name the words.

Учащиеся называют слова по теме, изображенные на картинках.

is to make possible word combinations using these words:


6. Просмотр видеофрагмента.

Т: Well done! And now let’s watch a short video and then try to name as many things you have seen as possible. Make the notes of the authors predictions, while watching the video.

- What did you see in this video? What new things will appear in our life? Where will we live? Will there be the place for nature?


Учащиеся просматривают небольшой видеофрагмент, а затем рассказывают о том, что они увидели.


-We saw space stations, moon hotels, skyscrapers, flying cars, moon shuttles, unusual cities, different planets, high-speed trains, underwater cities.


- There will be flying cars, nature will be preserved, justice will be respected. There will be ideal World.


7. Монологические высказывания

T: And now, students try to describe the future, describe people’s life in 2100. Use the following phrases. Clichés to make up the sentences.

I think that………

I believe that……..

People will have / live / go by /study at …

There will be / won’t be …….

Thank you very much for such interesting predictions. But let’s continue our work.


- There are more predictions about the future.

So many men, so many minds.


8. Работа с текстом

T: Look at the pictures and the texts by schoolchildren. How are they related to the title of the unit? Look at the pictures on p.46 near the texts. What can you see here?

- Do you like the idea of underwater cities?

Would you like to live in an underwater city? Why?


P:Both pictures and the text relate to life in the future.

T: There are predictions about the future.

Look at the pictures on p.46. What can you see in the pictures?

НА ДОСКЕ: What will life be like in the future?

I think life will be very different in the future.

- We use will to make predictions about the future based on what we think or imagine. We often begin our sentence with the words: I think, I`m sure, I believe.

Example: I think life will be very different in 2100.

- We use the present simple after if and when, not the future simple.

If/when + present simple

If/ When I go to Spain, I will take lots of photographs.

- Read the rubric on p. 47.


11. Диалогическая речь.

- Now, please, work in pairs. Act out a dialogue about predictions.


- Tell us, please, what the result is. Let`s see, are the predictions the same?

T: Work in pairs. Ask and answer questions using the prompts.

Pair 1:

A: Will people drive flying cars?

B: Yes, I think people will drive flying cars. There will be no traffic jams.

Pair 2:

A: Will computers talk?

B: Yes, I think computers will talk.

Pair 3:

A: Will time travel be common?

B: No, I don’t think time travel will be common.

Pair 4:

A: Will people live in underwater cities?

B: No, I don’t think people will live in underwater cities.


12. Revision of grammar

Test.

T: And now you are ready for your test. Choose the correct answer.

1. If the weather is/will be fine on Sunday, we will go/go to the beach.

2. If you put/will put ice in water, it floats/will float.

3. If my parents give/will give me a laptop, I will play/play games with you.

4. If the students get/will get good marks on the test, the teacher will be/is satisfied.
